The Best Hotels in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Fun Things to Do

iStock-478255650.jpgLake Havasu City, one of the oldest cities in Arizona, was once home to numerous tribes of Native Americans, as well as the site for the first-ever steamboat invention. Therefore, this Arizona city is rife with historic relevance, and there are museums, centers, and parks throughout Lake Havasu City in dedication to the rich histories.

In 1968, the city of London in England put the London Bridge up for auction to the highest bidder. Lake Havasu bought the bridge, and now the actual London Bridge connects Lake Havasu City and the main island for docks, marinas, and Lake Havasu boaters.

Lake Havasu State Park

Lake Havasu State Park is situated beneath the London Bridge, with a handful of lakeside beaches, several camping sites with fire pits, tent spaces, and RV hookups, a botanical garden for the numerous native wildlife, and lots of nature paths and hiking trails. This is THE place for outdoor recreations, as there are tons of places to fish, swim, camp, hike, stroll, and do pretty much anything that a nature lover would adore.

Jack Hardie Park

Or, hit up Jack Hardie Park for a more classic park experience. There are paths for dog walkers, picnic benches for families, playgrounds for kids, and clean restrooms for everyone. The area is well-maintained, and lots of locals bring their youngsters here to play in the afternoons—so your kids will almost always have someone to play with on the swings, slides, and monkey bars.
