Orange City, a popular Florida travel destination, is centered in the metro area of Daytona Beach, Ormond Beach, and Deltona. Ergo, there are plenty of fun things to do and see, but most of them are outdoors—perfect for nature lovers. This part of Central Florida is also known for its old-fashioned southern cuisine, so you have a plethora of great restaurants to choose from. Before you fill up on delicious Florida foods, take some time to commune with nature. The Blue Spring State Park, a seasonal attraction, is a hotspot for water sports and fun in the sunshine. Allotted to 116 acres at a junction between Orange City and Sanford, the zoo offers amazing sights of animals in enclosures that mimic their natural habitats. There are hundreds of species, but some of the most popular animals here are rhinos, big cats, and reptiles.

Entertainment-wise, there are small playgrounds, climb-on statues, zip lines, and rope bridges throughout the park, as well as a splash pad for kids to beat the heat in the summer. While there are several benches and shaded rest spots on the grounds, you should double-check a to-bring list and remember comfortable sneakers and sunscreen.

If you want an afternoon of simple fun with your family, head to the small but lovely Gateway Park off of US-17. This area features a skate park, toddler and big kid playgrounds, grassy walk-abouts for dog owners, and a nature path or two.
